Visual Development and Concept art Advance

In art figuring out how to build something well and quickly doesn't come easy, but visual development is considered one of the most important elements in virtually every kind of visual art. Now, the scope of what amounts to "visual art" is broad, but you should know that if you want a career in which you're granted a high level of creativity, know that visual development may give you just that!

It may be hard to tell exactly what the difference is between illustration and concept art. There are certain lines that separate these two fields, but there are a lot of gray areas and much confusion as to where one ends and the other begins. This article wants to try and clear up some of those areas when it comes to pursuing a career in these entertainment art industries. In particular, we want to highlight some of the differences between concept artists and illustrators!

what is visual development?

visual development is a term used to describe the process of visualizing the elements in a film or game before they are created. it involves a creative and focused process of using the creative and artistic elements to create the film or game that is being developed. visual development is a complex and important part of the film and gaming industry.

A 3D artist or animator is involved in the 'visual development' of a film, game, or another kind of interactive media, and is responsible for creating the characters, buildings, and scenery that the viewer sees. They are involved in every aspect of making animations, from creating the storyboard to the computer rendering, and they may be required to build models, create textures, and contribute to the lighting, texturing, and rendering of the scene.
To create any kind of work, an artist needs to have key skills, including:
-Dealing with clients
-Handling criticism
-Working to deadlines
-An ability to visualize
-An understanding of the technical skills required

What Does a Visual Development Artist Do?

visual development is the concept of designing a character or creature's look before designing their movement. the visual development artist needs to have a wide range of knowledge. not only does the character need to look like how the director intended, but the visual development artist must know how to design the character for its intended medium. if the character is going to be animated, the visual development artist must know how to make the character move. if the character is going to be in a movie or tv show, the visual development artist must know how to make sure that the designs can be pulled off as well as what makes the character visually appealing in the first place.

A visual development artist designs the mood, tone, and color palette of the multitude of imaginary worlds created through film, photo, and video gaming. No task or element is too large or small as a visual development artist; you can design sets, environments, characters, clothing, props, furniture lighting, etc. in each aspect.

It's not always what you say or does that matters, sometimes it’s how you say or do it. For example, some movies rely on color choices to drive the plot forward. What many don't realize though is that subtle shifts in background colors dramatically affect a mood and dynamic of a scene. When the action heats up, for example, warm orange or red hues replace their more cool blue-green counterparts!

Some remakes of classical stories would not be able to create the same effect that they did in their original productions were it not for their costume, lighting, and set design choices. For example, Baz Luhrmann’s modern-day adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet made use of visual development artists. Without their input, the story might feel out of place for a modern audience who is used to other more contemporary filming techniques. If you consider how important lighting and color are - neither of which is prominent in traditional iambic pentameter - it’s hard to imagine how a film that has no spoken dialogue could be enjoyable at all.

 What is Concept Art?

Concept art is a visual representation of an initial idea or vision that can be used to convey a story and/or specific look to what has not yet been constructed, built, or produced. It is commonly used in film and video games to get everyone on board with the same vision so that everyone is working towards a singular goal from the beginning. It’s often viewed as a blueprint or guide for all other creatives involved in the project. The best way to leverage concept art? Make sure your team will understand it, plan accordingly and refer back to it throughout the development process –this way you’ll know exactly where you started at!

Concept art is a visual representation that helps tell a story or set the tone for an entire game or movie. It provides creatives with a strong reference point and can help align the ideas of team members, whether it's in the world of film and video games, or any other professional industry. Concept art guides team members to become strongly familiar with their surroundings.

What does a concept artist do?

Concept artist has a lot of work ahead of them. I mean just look at all these different things they have to do, it’s really quite a lot. This type of artist is tasked with working from previous designs or from newly created worlds. They need to visualize scenes from books and must also work on new characters and props as well. They need to keep their personal style in mind but maybe go beyond that and make hay while the sun shines (or something like that). The bottom line? Make sure you understand the assignment’s goal and goals for the project so that you can give it your all when designing characters, environments, or anything in between!

2. Animators: An animator is a special kind of artist who creates art from both 2D images and 3D objects. As many animators as there are out there creating work for our various forms of entertainment, some choose to create for other reasons. For example, some people wish to create short films or games as a way to promote their company's brand name. However they do so, a lot of time and effort goes into this type of art. A major aspect of being an Animator is having strong communication skills.

Visual development tips: Tell a story with your artwork

You really have to go out and get references for other pieces before you can effectively start your new piece. A great way to make sure that the thumbnail sketches look good is by making sure that all of the proportions are correct. Enhancing the basic composition of your scene will give your overall painting a better sense of depth. Placing diamonds, zig-zags, and circles patterns around parts of the painting will help break up large areas of solid color so that things don't end up looking too random and bland if everything is just one solid color! I always found it helpful to place some contrasting values throughout my paintings and that's because when you include things such as dark next to light - or small next to big - it creates visual contrast which helps lead the viewer's eye through the painting in an intuitive way!
